Printmaking
is my primary medium, and the surface created
by the
intaglio plate intrigues me, as ink is pressed into the fibers of
the paper at different depths. I enjoy the aspect of
printmaking that
doesn’t allow the work
to be fully seen until is printed. One
moves along through the process with
an element of blind faith,
intuition and some intention, but also some uncertainty about the final product. My images
usually
spring from something I have read or reflections on the natural world,
theories about the universe…their
matter, and makeup and behavior. I like
scientific examinations
of things at their essence for the metaphor and
analogy to human sensations, emotion…a kind of
anthropomorphism I suppose.
